It seems that I find young motherhood to be riddled with dilemmas.
The first dilemma of the day occurred at the breakfast table, when Zaya let a funny toot slip out. I had to laugh, not only for the sound, but for the face that came with it. I said, "Excuse you, Zay," and then to Eva, "Zaya's such a tooter!" Yes, I am that immature. So then, in some strange effort to teach Zaya what a toot is, I started to make certain sounds with my tongue. Then Eva joined in. Then Zaya followed suit. So, there we are, three dainty, feminine, classy ladies in a spit-spray cloud of toots and raspberries. I had a minute of mommy-guilt, since I really do want to raise up children with some semblance of manners... but soon that was gone, and I lost myself in the enjoyment of the moment. We made long toots, loud toots, and some of us even added in some real ones ;o)
So, the dilemma being whether to enjoy the youthful silliness that for some reason accompanies toots or ignore that, and go straight to etiquette was neglected for the morning.
Ummm... hope I don't pay too terribly for that one later...
I love moments like that! I don't think you will ever regret laughing with your children! That morning they learned Mom can have fun. Good times.
