Streamlining my Life

Haha....

no... actually I'm not joking.  I have swirling, trollopping thoughtsies in my head, like, constantly - allllll about how I could be more efficient.

I am in love with the idea of efficiency. Like, head over heals.

I have laundry ideas.

My current plan is epically bad.  I have two laundry baskets in my closet that are a dump all for all things dirty.  When both are stacked to overflowing, I dump them out on the living room floor and go through each article looking for stains to hit with my trusty Shout.  I then do a laundry day marathon of about 8 loads (my baskets are big! and when I say overflowing, I mean... yeah).  The loads are *supposed* to be folded as they come out of the dryer, but that usually only happens to about half of them.  The other half become super wrinkly, and do eventually get put away....

Here's my idea:
I want bins that I keep in the laundry room (like, stackable laundry baskets) for each kind of load I do: whites, colors, darks, sheets & towels.  My plan is that at the end of the day, as I come down the stairs with the girls dirty clothes, I'd take them all the way downstairs and immediately hit any stained spots with a spray&wash thing.  When a bin is full, in the wash it goes.  Along with that, I'll make a reminder for the kitchen, saying there's a load in the wash - so I don't forget and leave it there for days to get stanky.  I can handle doing one load every few days-ish.  It's the overwhelming pile I hate.

Speaking of overwhelming piles: my dishes.
I don't have a dishwasher.  I do have two young daughters who LOVE to splash the suds around, but that just gets my rug wet.  I *try,* in a meh-not really kind of way to do the dishes after each meal.  Yeah.  Usually, every night after the kids are in bed, I go downstairs to fend off the mess monster and prune up my dried out hands.  I think I am going to stop *trying* to do the dishes after each meal, and just *do* them.  Kinda sounds like a lame-o plan, but, man, what else can you think of?

OK, and my final idea to share for the day: recess.  Yep.  I want a scheduled time each day, maybe two, where the girls and I have recess.  We go outside if it is at all possible for at least 20 minutes... we have adventures ... outside.  I don't mean just getting out of the house to go somewhere, I mean really playing outside.  Maybe I'll even lose this holiday weight! Ha!  We definitely don't get outside enough.

I have some old pics I hope to post tomorrow of Zaya, but they're from earlier this month.  She's a new woman now, cut two of her four canines on Christmas day, and speaking in sentences! Real sentences! That I can *almost* understand!! Yeah.  She's really growing up.

Also, yes, we had a fabulous Christmas.  It was a wonderful day spent enjoying our little family and the lack of snow.  We each got some fun gifts, but the best part was just having a day with no plans, no places we had to go... we changed back into PJs after church and just enjoyed each other.  We didn't even fight :D haha  I hope you had a wonderful Christmas too!
